6 GHZ band Unlicensed

America

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has decided to approve the frequencies for unlicensed usage on the 6GHz band in order to enable operation for a proposed WiFi 6E standard. Until now this was a section of the spectrum in the USA which was used for licensed-only operations by entities such as telephone companies and utilities or cable TV relay links used by news broadcasters as mobile links while live reporting on incidents.

The FCC has approved unlicensed use of the entire 1.2GHz spectrum for low-power devices used only indoors.
